LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) —[UPDATE: Aug. 11 at 6:20 p.m.] The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the second suspect involved in the mail theft.

Officials say the unidentified male fled the area on his bicycle and was not located during the time they arrested Ryan Christopher Etheridge.

[ORIGINAL ARTILCE] The Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) responded to reports of suspicious activity in the Glendale neighborhood of central Lee County around 3 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10.

Deputies searching the area located Ryan Christopher Etheridge riding a bicycle. They also discovered that several mailboxes in the neighborhood had been opened.

During the interaction, Etheridge attempted to flee. A deputy deployed a taser, and Etheridge was taken into custody, authorities said.

Upon searching him, deputies found methamphetamine and pieces of mail belonging to nearby residents in his possession.

Investigators later linked Etheridge to another series of mail thefts that took place during the early morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 8, in the Creekside Drive and Kinchafoonee Creek Road areas. Surveillance footage provided by a local citizen helped deputies make the connection.
