ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Yet another University of Georgia football player has been arrested for driving-related offenses.
Wide receiver NiTareon “Nitro” Tuggle was taken into custody and charged with speeding and reckless driving at nearly 2 a.m. on Thursday morning, Athens-Clarke County jail records show. He was released about an hour later on a small cash bond.
Tuggle was suspended indefinitely from all team activities, a UGA athletics spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said there would be no further comment on the suspension.
Tuggle is far from the only UGA player to be arrested on driving charges in the past few years. One of the incidents was deadly, with recruiting analyst Chandler LeCroy and offensive lineman Devin Willock killed during a street race with defensive tackle Jalen Carter in January 2023.
After a cornerback was arrested in September 2024 on several traffic charges, Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart addressed the problem during a news conference.
“It’s very unfortunate,” Smart said. “I know that our staff, myself, continue to drive home the sensitive nature of it.”
This is a developing story. Check back with Atlanta News First as we learn more.
