ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — President Trump endorsed U.S. Rep. Mike Collins early Sunday just days away from Georgia’s runoff election.

Collins faces Derek Dooley in Tuesday’s Republican runoff for U.S. Senate. The winner will face Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff this fall.

Both Dooley and Collins have tried to position themselves close to Trump to woo MAGA voters.

In a Truth Social post, Trump made it clear who he’s throwing his support behind.

“It is my Great Honor to endorse ‘MAGA’ Mike Collins, a Highly Respected Congressman who has been with me from the very beginning, and is running for the United States Senate in Georgia, a very special place to me, and where we just had a BIG Presidential Election Win with the Most Votes Received by any single Candidate in Georgia’s History, for any Election,” Trump posted.

Collins has highlighted his ties to Trump and his congressional record, including immigration-related legislation.

Dooley, who has never held elected office, is running as an outsider and backing proposals to curb congressional stock trading and address lawmaker pay during government shutdowns.

In response to Trump’s backing of Collins, Dooley said in a statement to Atlanta News First that his campaign is undeterred.

“I have great respect for President Trump and look forward to working with him in the Senate. As I’ve campaigned across this state, it’s clear Georgians want a political outsider who can actually beat Jon Ossoff, and someone who is committed to ending the careerism, corruption, and inaction from typical D.C. politicians like Mike Collins,” Dooley said. “I’m proud to have the strong support of Governor Brian Kemp, and we’re going to win on Tuesday because as I have said from the beginning the most important endorsement is that of the Georgia people.”

Both campaigns are working to win over voters who previously supported other contenders and persuade them to pick a new choice in the runoff.

Ossoff released a statement on the development as well, casting both Collins and Dooley as Trump surrogates.

“After nearly a year-long brutally messy audition to win over the White House, Trump puppets Mike Collins and Derek Dooley have made themselves both unelectable and terminally inseparable from the toxic president,” Ossoff said in a statement. “The juggernaut Ossoff campaign continues to build incredible momentum to decisively defeat either pro-war, pro-tariff, and pro-cutting health care candidate in November.”
