WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Donald Trump addressed the nation Wednesday night from the White House. His speech focused on his accomplishments in the first year of his second term as his approval ratings have declined and economic indicators show signs of weakness.

Speaking from the Diplomatic Reception Room, Trump blamed his predecessor Joe Biden repeatedly for current economic challenges while highlighting his administration’s border security policies and promising a strong economic rebound in 2026.

“Eleven months ago, I inherited a mess and I’m fixing it,” Trump said.

The president said his policies have strengthened the nation’s position after nearly a year in office.

“Tonight, after 11 months, our borders secure, inflation has stopped. Wages are up. Prices are down. Our nation is strong. America is respected and our country is back stronger than ever before. We’re poised for an economic boom, the likes of which the world has never seen,” Trump said.

Trump announced what he’s calling a “warrior dividend” for military personnel, saying 1.45 million service members will receive a bonus before Christmas.

“We are sending every soldier $1,776,” Trump said. “And the checks are already on the way.”

The address comes as Trump faces political headwinds. His public opinion polls have dipped and recent jobs numbers show weaknesses in the U.S. labor market. The unemployment rate in November hit 4.6%, a four-year high.

Trump defended his America-First policies, claiming success in job creation.

“Since I took office, 100% of all net job creation has gone to American-born citizens 100%,” Trump said. Employers are supposed to confirm worker eligibility with the federal government.

Trump will take his message on the road Friday when he visits Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Senior White House advisors said affordability will be an important issue for both parties in the midterm elections next November.

Heading into 2026 and the mid-term elections, President Trump promised that his policies will suddenly start to benefit millions of Americans.
