GRADY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Grady County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) says deputies made several arrests over the past week as part of ongoing efforts to crack down on crime and drug activity across the county.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies assisted the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office during a vehicle pursuit that entered Grady County near Meigs. Officials said the suspect crashed the vehicle and fled on foot before multiple K-9 teams and deputies from several agencies established a perimeter and began tracking operations.
Authorities said the suspect, identified as Terrance Weston of Cairo, was later taken into custody. Deputies say Weston had active warrants out of Grady County, Decatur County and Leon County, Florida.
In a separate incident, a Grady County K-9 deputy conducted a traffic stop on County Line Road involving 58-year-old Jose Carrasco of Pelham for a traffic violation. During the stop, deputies said methamphetamine was discovered in his possession. Carrasco was also charged with no insurance and failure to maintain lane.
Another traffic stop at MLK Jr. Drive and 4th Street Southwest led to the arrest of 31-year-old Blair Morris after deputies allegedly found methamphetamine during the investigation.
Deputies also executed a search warrant on Manor Lane in Grady County, where authorities say methamphetamine was recovered inside a residence. As a result, 28-year-old Skylar Smith of Cairo and 28-year-old Leslie Hall of Thomasville were arrested and charged.
The sheriff’s office says deputies will continue proactive patrols and narcotics enforcement efforts, especially in rural communities throughout the county.
Officials also acknowledged the impact addiction has on families and encouraged anyone struggling with substance abuse to seek help. Sheriff Prince says residents can contact him directly for assistance and recovery resources.
The investigations remain ongoing.
