Description

TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) - A traffic stop in Tifton led to the discovery and seizure of about 20 pounds of marijuana.

According to the Tifton Police Department (TPD), a traffic stop was conducted on I-75 Southbound on Tuesday, July 1.

The traffic stop led to a brief roadside investigation where police found evidence of the driver being involved in the trafficking of illegal narcotics, police say.

TPD said that about 20 pounds of marijuana and an illegal firearm were seized. TPD’s Narcotics Detection K9, Niko, helped in the investigation by alerting to the illegal narcotics in the vehicle.

TPD reminds people that crimes can be anonymously reported to the police department through the tip411 alert system by texting TIFTONPD to 847411 or by downloading the Tifton PD app.
