ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A South Georgia trio is heading up north for Junior Golds, the largest youth bowling tournament in the world.

With a shared love for the game, through all the spares, strikes and gutter balls each of them has something that keeps their ball rolling.

Lillian Lovett has been bowling since she was three years old. Her first time qualifying for the tournament she’s grateful for her support system and her coach who she also calls Dad.

“He helped me get this far. He helped me bowl. He helped me focus and all that and I also just want to say thank you to my mom for cheering me up and helping me like feel good about bowling.”

Bowling is in Skylar Choukair’s blood. Every time he enters a new alley he’s reminded of his guardian angel.

“My great, great grandma she bowled in the actual PBA Tournaments and she won a few medals. I have a old little bowling bag that I used to roll with and she has little score sheets in there."

With the mental challenges of the game, faith is what keeps Nylah Lewis afloat.

“One thing that I do to help me when I’m getting upset or miss a bowl I don’t get what I want to get I say a scripture. Philippians 4:13. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."

The three attended elementary school together at International Studies. Now all in their own lane at separate middle schools, bowling is the one thing keeping them together.

“We’re friends at the same time so it’s like just good to hang out with a friend that bowls with you and is on the same team as you,” expressed Lovett.

“It makes me feel more connected, It makes me feel more confident,” said Choukair.

Confidence will be key this weekend going up against the top bowlers in the country. They’ll be in Green Bay Wisconsin for over a week. If’d you like to help out on their journey north you can donate to one of the entities below.
