PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — Federal prosecutors said Wednesday that a Providence man is accused of threatening to kill President Donald Trump and two administration officials.
Carl Montague, 37, made his first appearance Wednesday afternoon in federal court in Providence. A judge released him under a number of conditions.
Prosecutors said Montague "issued a profanity-laced posting on Truth Social threatening to shoot and kill President Trump, Attorney General Bondi, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Miller" on June 27.
Montague was charged with threats against the president, interstate threats, threats to assault, and kidnap, or murder of a United States official, judge, or law enforcement officer.
Prosecutors said Montague was arrested without incident on Wednesday morning.
