ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - One teenager is dead after an apparent altercation in Albany on Saturday around 4:35 p.m. Saturday, July 26.

According to Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler, the teenager has been identified as 18-year-old Christian Jones.

Police have arrested 18-year-old Chasside Hope Balkcom, her 17-year-old brother Skyler Balkcom, and their 51-year-old grandmother, Tharia Kathleen Harrell. Another person, 18-year-old Makhail Watson, was also arrested. At this time, we are working to find out if he is connected to the family. All are currently in jail and facing murder charges.

APD’s Chief Deputy Wendy Luster encourages parents to stay involved with their children to prevent incidents like this one.

“We just ask them to monitor any behavior changes that the kids may have, we just encourage them to do anything they can to get out and visit the schools this year, I think when you are active and the children see that you are there and teachers see that you are visible and present In the schools then that shows that you have a willingness to take some involvement with your child’s life,” she said.

Police say that there is another teen is wanted in connection with this shooting.

The Albany Police Department is actively investigating the case.
