COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A 17-year-old girl and her unborn child have died following a weekend shooting in Columbus.
Columbus police responded to a shooting July 27th in the early morning on Juniper Avenue in the 2600 block. Two people were injured in the incident, and authorities later confirmed the shooting was connected to another active scene on Japonica Drive. One victim was treated for her injuries and released from the hospital.
The coroner confirms the other victim is 17-year-old Keianna McFadden. She was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta in critical condition, where she was pronounced dead at 4:08 p.m. on August 1. The coroner also confirmed her unborn child did not survive. Her death is being investigated as murder and feticide.
Her body has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for autopsy.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the shooting occurred during a gathering at the residence on Juniper Avenue.
