AMERICUS, Ga. (WALB) - Officials have now released the name of the victim and suspect in a deadly Wednesday afternoon shooting in Americus.

Officers with the Americus Police Department (APD) responded to reports of a person shot in a vacant lot on Hanson Drive around 2:14 p.m. The person was later identified as Christian McGee, 29, APD said.

Upon arrival, officers found McGee lying on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds. They proceeded to render first aid until EMS arrived.

McGee was transported to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

The suspect, Jy’Quariuss Ty’Quan Foster, is in police custody, according to the APD. Foster is a 23-year-old from Americus.

This incident is under investigation by APD and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
