CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) - A security investigation on July 15 in Cordele led to the recovery of a stolen AR-15-style pistol along with drugs, cash and ammunition, the Cordele Police Department (CPD) said.

The AR-15 pistol was originally reported stolen from Birmingham, Alabama, police said.

The police department said they recovered the stolen AR-15 pistol, a Glock handgun equipped with an illegal full-auto switch, a loaded Glock drum magazine, a loaded 31-round extended Glock magazine, 21 individually sealed bags of suspected marijuana and $1,200 in cash all in connection to this case.

CPD officers responded at about 10:30 p.m. on July 15 to the 600 block of West 23rd Avenue after they got a report of an individual carrying a rifle, according to a CPD press release. The release said that the suspect hid the weapon and left before CPD arrived.

No details about the suspect were released. CPD said that anyone with information related to this case should contact their Criminal Investigations Division at 229-276-2921 or email them here.
