Description
BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) - Scott Weathersby is turning a lifetime of medical challenges into a global message of hope.
The Bainbridge native is a three-time cancer survivor who now speaks about the life-saving importance of organ and bone marrow donation. Two of his cancer battles required bone marrow transplants, with his first transplant taking place 26 years ago.

Weathersby founded Match Marrow Foundation Inc. to encourage donor registration and support patients and families navigating treatment.
His advocacy has taken him far beyond South Georgia. Weathersby travels across the United States and around the world sharing his story and urging people to become donors.
Most recently, he spoke in Cairo, where he told an international audience how he transformed personal hardship into purpose.

WALB’s James Irvin will have more in our afternoon newscasts.
