Description
BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) - Spring Creek Charter Academy (SCCA) broke ground on a permanent facility Monday, April 27, after operating out of modular buildings for the last seven years.
The school, which serves four counties (Grady, Seminole, Miller and Decatur), celebrated the occasion with students, their families and community members. District and state charter school officials also attended the groundbreaking on Vada Road in Bainbridge.
The school’s permanent facility is being financed through a tax-exempt revenue bond, “a common funding model for charter schools that allows them to build independently of local tax dollars,” SCCA Chief Financial Officer Cheryl Weathersby explained.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Weathersby recognized Studio 8 Design, CGM Construction, Public-Private Partnership Project Management and the Development Authority of Bainbridge and Decatur County as partners who made the new campus possible.
“Today is about more than breaking ground,” said Principal Heather Worsley. “It represents stability, opportunity and a long-term commitment to serving our students, families and community well.”
School officials said they anticipate that the new building will be complete for the 2027-2028 school year.
