Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - We’re tracking a multi-day severe weather event unfolding across the Plains on Friday. Conditions remain conducive for strong-severe storms to track east through the weekend. Storms are west on Saturday which gives SGA a final day of preparation before the severe threat arrives very early Sunday.
Dry with a Wind Advisory on Saturday as winds gust to 35+mph. After midnight around 2am Sunday, we expect a broken line of storms to arrive with potential impacts. All modes of severe weather are possible including damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes. FIRST Alert Weather Day holds for Sunday from 2am to 2pm.
The risk was upgraded to Moderate (4/5) for areas along the Al/Ga line while an Enhanced (3/5) to Slight Risk (2/5) continues for all others. Keep in mind threats are the same and everyone should remain alert with multiple ways to receive warnings and know where to seek shelter. Be safe in an interior room and staying away from windows to avoid flying debris.
Expect the storms to move out early afternoon which brings an end to the severe threat.
Next week drier with cooler upper 60s on Monday then warm low 80s on Wednesday. Rain returns on Thursday with another push of cool dry air to end the week.
