CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace said Sunday in a Fox News interview that she watches Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrest people, claiming that there is "nothing more American."

In the interview, where she also stated that a decision regarding her speculated run for South Carolina governor would come in a few days, Mace detailed going on YouTube to seek videos of immigrants being arrested following court proceedings.

"One of my favorite things to watch on YouTube these days is court hearings where illegals are in court and ICE shows up to drag them out of court and deport them," Mace said. "I can think of nothing more American today than keeping our streets safer by getting those violent criminals out of the United States of America. And we all have Donald J. Trump to thank for it."

Residing in the United States without legal status is a civil infraction, not criminal. Additionally, recent data compiled by the Cato Institute suggests 93 percent of ICE book-ins had "no violent convictions."

News 4 reached out to Rep. Mace's office for comment and is awaiting word back.

Rep. Mace's "war room" account posted in response to the headline, "I fall asleep to the sound of constitutional enforcement." The post was subsequently retweeted by one of Mace's main accounts.

Mace's comments come against the backdrop of her public mulling of a bid for the governor's mansion in 2026.

“I will be making a decision over the next couple of days about my future,” Mace said during the Fox News interview. “I believe I may be forced to run for governor because I can’t watch my beautiful red state of South Carolina go woke. It’s gone woke over the last couple of years.”

After teasing a possible run for months, Mace said in a post on social media that she has a "special announcement" coming soon.

A new poll, sponsored by the free-market think tank South Carolina Policy Council, found a majority of responders on both sides of the aisle are undecided on who to support in their party's primaries to determine who gets a shot at replacing Gov. Henry McMaster in 2026.
