Georgia, Ga. (WALB) — Students from across the state can get hands-on learning opportunities with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) 2027 Career Academy.

The weeklong learning opportunity lets high school students learn how DNR employees manage, protect, and conserve Georgia’s natural resources. Students will visit state parks, wildlife management areas, fish hatcheries, historic sites, and coastal destinations, according to the DNR.

Enrolled students can earn eligible dual enrollment credits for fish and wildlife programs at several technical colleges.

“The DNR Career Academy gives students a firsthand look at the many opportunities available within the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Through hands-on activities and time spent learning alongside experienced professionals, students can see how they can make a difference in conserving Georgia’s wildlife, protecting its lands and waters, and serving their communities.”

The 2027 Career Academy is scheduled for July 18-24, 2027. The program is located at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center in Mansfield and the Jekyll 4-H Center on Jekyll Island.

The program is open to upcoming high school juniors and seniors. Students can register for the program here.

The deadline to apply is Nov. 16, 2026.
