QUITMAN, Ga. (WCTV) - The American Red Cross stepped in Thursday to help Quitman residents impacted by a fire.
The South Central Georgia Chapter of the Red Cross helped 18 people after a fire broke out Thursday morning at Woodmere Apartments on Barwick Road, per a press release shared Friday by the chapter.
Red Cross volunteers responded to the scene of the fire to provide emergency aid and help with recovery planning, the press release said. It was part of an effort from the group’s Disaster Action Team.
It is unclear what caused the fire or how many units were affected. Officials from the Quitman Fire Department were not immediately available Friday to answer questions.
