PELHAM, Ga. (WALB) - An act of violence has left a small community reeling. Two lives lost in a double homicide in Mitchell County has residents speaking out—not just in grief, but in a desperate call for change.
32-year-old Tobias McIntyre and 24-year-old Desmond Daniels were found dead in different locations but within close proximity to each other. Officials believe the two were initially together in a vehicle when the incident occurred.

‘It didn’t have to come to this.’
The deaths have sparked an urgent outcry from residents calling for an end to the gun violence that continues to claim young lives far too soon.
Frederick Branic, a resident and family member, expressed the pain felt across the community: “It really hurts me to see kids lose their lives like this. Cause I have kids and grandkids that are growing up, and I don’t want this to happen to any one of them.”
Young residents Tron Bryan and Donnald Regger issued a passionate plea for change: “Put the guns down, and put your fists up. It didn’t have to come to this. It didn’t have to be this deep. Too many young people out here are dying today. No one else should have to lose their kids. This is sad.”
As the community grapples with this tragedy, residents are asking a difficult question: When will it be enough?
The answer, they say, must come now—before another family is shattered and another mother has to bury her child.
Mitchell County residents say they are united in their call for justice and an end to the violence claiming their young people.
