GRADY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — Unidentified bones were reportedly found inside of a Grady County residence that seems to have been unoccupied for two months, the Grady County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) said on Thursday, Jan. 22.

Preliminary reports indicate that the bones are likely not human, the sheriff’s office said.

The residence is on Akridge Road in Grady County, per a GCSO press release. Deputies initially responded to the residence to investigate a missing persons complaint, according to the release.

GCSO said that neighbors reported that they had not seen the elderly man who lives in the Akridge Road residence. The man’s name is not being released until officials can contact his next of kin, the sheriff’s office said.

Multiple dogs were reportedly inside the residence when deputies arrived. GCSO said that animal control was contacted to remove them.

After the bones were found inside the residence, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was called to assist with the investigation. GCSO said at 3:11 p.m. Thursday that the GBI was on the scene investigating.

GCSO said that there is no danger to the public, and that the area is safe.
