ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — With early voting starting Tuesday, President Donald Trump is returning to Georgia ahead of the state’s nationally watched November midterms.
The nation’s 47th president will be making an appearance in Dalton on Friday, where newly elected U.S. Rep. Clay Fuller is facing a challenge from Democrat Shawn Harris this year in the 14th congressional district.
The event is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Dalton Municipal Airport.

Trump last appeared in the northwest Georgia city on Jan. 4, 2021, ahead of Georgia’s U.S. Senate runoffs. It will be his third stop in Georgia this year. He was in Rome in February and made an appearance at Wheeler High School in Cobb County in July.
Early voting ends Oct. 30, 2026.
No details have been released on who else may be attending the rally. However, U.S. Rep. Mike Collins is entering the final weeks of his reelection challenge to U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff, whose bid to win a second term in the Senate is being seen as crucial for Democrats to hold on Capitol Hill.
Collins was unwavering his support of the president in last week’s U.S. Senate debate hosted by Atlanta News First and broadcast statewide on all Gray Media stations. Ossoff was highly critical of Trump in the debate and repeatedly criticize Collins’ support of the administration.
Campaign representatives for Republican Rick Jackson, seeking to become Georgia’s 84th governor, confirmed to an Atlanta media outlet Jackson will attend.
Gov. Brian Kemp is finishing his second and final term as governor, with Jackson and Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms hoping to succeed him.
Jackson has repeatedly pledged to become “Trump’s favorite governor,” and former Atlanta mayor Bottoms criticized Jackson’s support of the president during their gubernatorial town hall debate also hosted by Atlanta News First and broadcast statewide on all Gray Media stations last week.
Fuller won a series of special elections and runoffs earlier this year after former Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene stunned the nation’s political establishment by resigning late last year.
Besides governor, Georgia will also elect a new lieutenant governor, secretary of state and attorney general on Nov. 3.

Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and Attorney General Chris Carr - all Republicans - launched unsuccessful bids for governor earlier this year.
