Before then, the White House Historial Association invites the public to sign the official condolence book for President Carter at The People's House: A White House Experience, located at 1700 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W.
The book is available for signing beginning Monday, Dec. 30, at 9 a.m.
Funeral arrangements, all public events, and motorcade routes for President Carter's state funeral are still pending, according to the Carter Center.
When those details are available, the center says they will be announced by the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region (JTF-NCR).
7News is asking the JTF-NCR, along with the United States Capitol Police (USCP), United States Secret Service (USSS), and Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) about those details as well as security in the District.

7News is working to find out:
- How will these agencies prep for heightened security measures, including security for a pending state funeral on top of existing security for Jan. 6 and Inauguration Day?
- How will preparations outside the White House and Capitol Complex ramp up in coming days, beyond the existing fencing and barricades?
- When and where barricades will go up for President Carter's arrangements, and will they overlap with the Jan. 6 and 20?
- Are there plans for President Carter to lay in state at the Capitol before the state funeral?
As of Sunday evening, a USSS spokesperson replied with the following statement:
It was an honor and a privilege to serve former President Jimmy Carter, and the U.S. Secret Service joins the nation in mourning his passing. We are working closely with the Department of Defense and our law enforcement partners to ensure a safe and secure state funeral here in the National Capital Region. Information on anticipated public impacts of the state funeral, including road closures and parking restrictions, will be released in the coming days in coordination with our local law enforcement partners.
The USSS went on to refer any state funeral plans to the Department of Defense.
After the state funeral in D.C., President Carter will be taken back to Georgia where he will be buried alongside his wife, Rosalynn Carter.
