Perry, Ga. (WGXA) – — If you need an added laugh during your time at the Georgia National Fair, you're in luck!

Say "ahoy" to the looney lampoon of buccaneer buffoonery - "Swash-Chucklers!" and go sailing on a comedy treasure cruise with these silly sea dogs as they search for the map to the long-lost Cursed Treasure of the Spanish Main.

The long-running pirate comedy show, setting anchor in Perry for the next 10 days.

Performer Ed Landwher says it's perfect for fans of comedy greats like "The Three Stooges" and Mel Brooks.

"It's slapstick comedy, it's goofiness," he siad. "We're not afraid to be goofballs."

Landwher and his stage mate, JD Posey, are no scallywags.

The men playing Patch-Eyed Pete and Daring Dirk Doubloon have both been in showbiz for three decades.

"Astroworld in Houston, Texas was running an ad for a comedy show," Posey said about his start. "And at the same time, [the SwashChucklers team] were auditioning for a gunfight show... I went out and auditioned and ended up doing this for a long time."

Posey says it's run and gun for eight months a year with their small crew.

"It's been a really fun time, the crew's really good," he said. "It's just the four of us, and we put up the set, and we break it down and we travel onto the next one."

They're now at the end of the fair and festival season - usually starting in February and ending in October.

While "SwashChucklers" is a scripted show, don't be surprised if these pirates plunder a few extra laughs...

"The really cool thing about it is you've got a skeleton of a script," Posey said. "We've been doing this for so long, that there are bits we can throw in if the audience is really into it."
