ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Doctors with Phoebe are sending out a warning on how to protect yourself from respiratory illnesses. Many viruses tend to spread more during colder seasons.
Dr. Karen Campbell, a primary care doctor with Phoebe Putney Health System, says there’s an overlap in symptoms for most respiratory illnesses. Coronavirus (COVID), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and influenza (flu) have fatigue listed as a common symptom.
With COVID, most patients experience sore throat and difficulty breathing. With RSV, a common complaint is wheezing. Many patients with the flu experience an overall body fever.
Dr. Campbell says the best protection for these viruses is to get vaccinated. Other ways to prevent illnesses are to stay hydrated, get 7-9 hours of sleep, and cut down on overall stress.
