On Friday, students and staff at every Cook County school are dressing in pink and blue, some even wearing crowns, princess, or prince outfits, to remember 4-year-old Tai’Lynn Amier Luden. The tribute is meant to celebrate her life while providing her family with visible community support.

At Cook Primary School, where Tai’Lynn attended pre-kindergarten, the halls were filled with color as students arrived dressed in her honor. Teachers and administrators say the day is about love, remembrance, and helping children understand how to support one another during difficult times.

District leaders say that while Cook Primary holds special significance, every school in Cook County is participating, showing that the loss is felt far beyond one classroom or campus.

Community members have also stepped in, with local title holders visiting schools dressed in crowns and sashes, reading to students and helping spread messages of kindness, compassion, and unity.

The show of support doesn’t stop at the school doors.

A community fundraiser, the Princess Fun Run 5K, is set for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at 9 a.m. at the Massee Post Sports Complex in Adel. The event is hosted by We Run Adel, with all proceeds going directly to Tai’Lynn’s family to help with medical, funeral, and unforeseen expenses. Participants are encouraged to dress in their best princess attire, and both runners and walkers are welcome.

Registration is $25, and the first 130 people who sign up before Jan. 31 will receive a free event T-shirt. Those unable to attend can still donate through the race website.

Organizers say the goal is to turn heartbreak into hope, honoring Tai’Lynn’s life while continuing to support her family in the days ahead.
