CAIRO, Ga. (WCTV) - City crews in Cairo spent time keeping roads clean and are encouraging others to do the same.
Operation Clean Sweep collected garbage along 20th Street and Joyner Road.
Crews collected 38 bags of trash.
City officials are asking residents to help stop litter before it becomes a problem.
The city of Cairo offered tips on social media to stop trash from flying out of trucks and trailers:
- Secure all loads with tarps, nets or straps
- Avoid overfilling trucks or trailers
- Double-bag loose or lightweight items
- Check tailgates and covers before driving
- Make a quick stop to re-secure your load if anything shifts
