ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff from Georgia says funding is on the way for Lee County water infrastructure improvements and for children with complex medical conditions that need out-of-state care. He said he is also working to garner bipartisan support for Georgia Cotton Farmers.
In a recent sit-down interview, the senator explained the timelines for each legislative action.
Lee County Water Infrastructure
U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff and Congressman Sanford D. Bishop Jr. delivered $1,092,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on Jan. 23.

According to the release, the funding will allow Lee County to install new technology aimed at improving drinking water quality for residents. The project will also create a centralized source of drinking water, reducing the county’s reliance on several smaller private wells.
According to Lee County Manager Scott Addison, the funding will be used to construct a 1 million gallon-per-day groundwater production well and treatment facility.
The Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act
The bipartisan Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act was recently signed into law as part of bipartisan government funding legislation to ensure kids covered by Medicaid in Georgia face fewer delays when receiving specialty care.
“No child should have to face burdensome delays when in need of life-saving care,” Sen. Ossoff said. “We passed this bipartisan bill into law to help ensure kids in Georgia and across the Nation have fast and reliable access to the medical care they need and deserve.”
The Buying American Cotton Act of 2025
The bipartisan bill, championed by Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), would provide a tax credit to companies when they sell products that are made from cotton grown in the United States. Ossoff was the first Senate Democrat to back the bill. He says he is working to swiftly gather more bipartisan support to help Georgia farmers who are struggling with high input costs and tariff burdens.
