MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) — An Amish man was taken into custody after an Ohio woman was found dead with her goat.

An Amish man has been charged with murder following the death of Rosanna Kinsinger, 28, of Pomeroy, Ohio, who was found dead alongside her goat on Thursday, March 13.

According to a statement issued by the Meigs County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded on March 13, to a report of a suspicious death on Dye Road in Rutland, Ohio.

The Meigs County Coroner's Office was called to the scene, and Kinsinger's death was deemed suspicious. Her body was taken to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office for an autopsy, but preliminary results were inconclusive, according to authorities.

The investigation led deputies to identify Samuel Hochstetler as a person of interest.

Hochstetler was detained and interviewed by detectives on Monday. Following the interview, he was arrested and charged with Kinsinger's murder.

When speaking to reporters with WSAZ, Mose Troyer, a member of the same Amish community where the victim lived, said that the suspect was from Kentucky, but had been living with him for the past few months.

Troyer told WSAZ he went looking for Kinsinger that night on March 13 after members of the community realized no one had seen her all day. Upon entering her home, Troyer said he found the 28-year-old dead, adding that her goat was also inside the residence, per the station. He then called 911.

Hochstetler was taken to the Gallia County Jail. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 13, according to The Independent.

"This case was such a tragedy to those who knew Rosanna. She was a beloved individual in her community," said Sheriff Scott Fitch. "Detectives have worked around the clock searching for answers and were able to get those answers. Hopefully, this investigation helps bring some closure to the victim’s family, and on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office, we offer our deepest condolences."
