Description
MOULTRIE, Ga. (WALB) — The Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society vowed Wednesday, June 17, not to allow an act of vandalism to slow their important work in the community.
The Humane Society took to Facebook Wednesday morning to explain that its transport van had been vandalized.
Someone did significant damage to the van, cutting gas lines and tearing off panels.
The Humane Society called the act “heartbreaking,” and wrote, “This isn’t just a van to us. It is the vehicle that takes animals to rescue partners, transports them to veterinary appointments, brings them to adoption events, and helps them begin their journeys to loving homes. For many of the animals that ride in this van, it represents their first step toward a better life.”
The organization pointed out in the post that nonprofits must make every dollar count, and that money used for animals’ food, medical care and other needs will now be used to repair the van.
“Today, our staff, volunteers, and supporters are saddened and discouraged by this senseless act,” the humane society also wrote in its Facebook post.
Despite the setback, the organization vows it will continue its mission of caring for animals.
In the meantime, the Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society encourages anyone with information about the vandalism to contact the Moultrie Police Department at (229) 985-3131.
