Description
LEESBURG, Ga. (WALB) — Jeffrey Tyler Kinzer, who was charged in a shots-fired incident at a Lee County family gathering, was reportedly placed on administrative leave from his workplace, the Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) in Albany.
The military base confirmed with WALB on Tuesday, June 16, that Kinzer was placed on leave from his position as a lead firefighter for Fire and Emergency Services under the Public Safety Division.
The incident was at about 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, when family members and law enforcement officials said Kinzer opened fire with an AR-15 rifle as the family was outside on the front lawn of their Lee County home.
Kinzer was reportedly leaning out of the window of a car driving by the home, shouting racial slurs at the group. He was charged with one count of aggravated assault.

Shortly after his arrest, Kinzer was released on a $5,000 bond, leaving the community with several questions.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) confirmed that it was requested to assist in the investigation on June 11.
Any individuals with information or video footage of the incident are asked to contact the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 3 Field Office at 229-931-2439.
