ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Students across metro Atlanta are heading back to school!
The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety is reminding drivers to stop for school buses when they are picking up or dropping off children on the street.
A survey found U.S. school buses are passed more than 43.5 million times per school year, according to the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services. Crash data shows students are most vulnerable when they are boarding and stepping off the school bus, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
During a news conference at 10 a.m. Thursday, Georgia transportation officials shared safety tips for riding and walking to school.
