OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. (WNEM/Gray News) - Police in Michigan say a mother and her 2-month-old son both died after drowning in a bathtub.
Waterford Police are investigating the double drowning of a 36-year-old woman and her 2-month-old son. Officers and Waterford Regional firefighters were called to an apartment complex around 10:30 p.m. Friday for a reported drowning.
In one unit, first responders found the mother and son unresponsive in the bathtub. Firefighters immediately began lifesaving measures on them, and both were taken to local hospitals.
Police say the mother and son were later pronounced dead.
Autopsies conducted by the Oakland County Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death for both was drowning, according to police.
Investigators are still waiting for the results of toxicology tests as they work to understand what led up to the incident.
