VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - A man is behind bars on child molestation charges, according to the Valdosta Police Department (VPD).

Police said Lee Harris, 52, was arrested for sexually assaulting two children under the age of 15.

In April 2025, two children told a family member that someone they knew had sexually assaulted them in the fall of 2024.

VPD was contacted and detectives launched an investigation. Detectives worked closely with the Children’s Advocacy Center.

Detectives collected information that Harris had sexually assaulted the two children, police said.

Warrants on the following charges were taken out for Harris’ arrest:

• Rape - felony
• 3 counts of child molestation - felony
• 3 counts of aggravated child molestation - felony
• Cruelty to children in the 1st degree - felony

With the assistance of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, VPD located Harris. He was arrested by the Gainesville Police Department in Florida.

On Aug. 22, Harris was extradited to Valdosta and is currently at the Lowndes County Jail.

“This monster took advantage of young children, whose lives will never be the same. We are thankful that the children were brave, and strong enough to speak with an adult about the situation, so that he can be held accountable for his actions. We pray that these children can continue to receive the help they need to move forward from these horrible incidents.”
