ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – New details have been released about a fatal shooting that occurred overnight at the Bethel Housing Complex in Albany.
According to the Albany Police Department, officers responded to the 500 block of Swift Street at around 9:12 p.m. in reference to a shooting. The investigation revealed that 28-year-old Emroy Jones Jr. went to his child’s mother’s residence and found 25-year-old Morris Rogers inside.

Jones reportedly asked Rogers to leave, but a physical altercation began after Jones allegedly swung at Rogers. During the struggle, Rogers pulled out a firearm and shot Jones multiple times.
Jones was rushed to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Rogers was arrested at the scene and interviewed by investigators. He has been charged with Murder, four counts of Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
