CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) - An investigation is underway after a man was shot early Friday morning in Cordele, according to the Cordele Police Department.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of North 1st Street following reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Crisp Regional Hospital before being transferred to another medical facility for additional treatment.

Detectives with the Cordele Police Department responded to the scene and have taken over the investigation.

Authorities have not released additional details about the victim or any potential suspect(s) as the investigation remains active.
