LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) is mourning the sudden loss of one of its beloved K-9s, K-9 Kyro, according to a statement shared by the agency on social media.

Sheriff Paulk announced the passing, describing Kyro as a valued member of the Sheriff’s Office and a loyal partner to Staff Sergeant Bass. K-9 Kyro, a Belgian Malinois, was imported from Hungary by Police Service Dogs in Ocala, Florida. After being purchased by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, Kyro was assigned to Staff Sergeant Bass, where the pair went on to achieve many successes together as a team.
Beyond his service to the community, K-9 Kyro was also a cherished family pet. Sheriff Paulk asked the public to keep Staff Sergeant Bass and his family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
The Sheriff’s Office shared news of Kyro’s passing on its official Facebook page, as the department and community remember the service, dedication, and companionship K-9 Kyro provided.
