ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Together Organization, Inc. in Albany held an event to help Albany youth on Saturday, April 18.

The fifth Community Checker Tournament began at 12:30 p.m. at Albany State University’s West Campus in the nursing building. Each person paid a $5 fee to participate in the tournament.

According to Samuel Mackey, founder of Together Organization, Inc., the organization hosts classes, volunteers for blood drives, reads to children at the local library and volunteers for activities around the city of Albany.

One Albany parent said her son has been part of the organization since he was in ninth grade, and he is now a junior.

“Mr Samuel Mackey has done amazing with these boys. His website shows all of the boys who have graduated out of his mentorship. He is super dependable and loves being a mentor to all his mentees.”

The Together Organization’s focus is to help the younger generation become successful.
