SUMTER COUNTY, GA (WALB) – The mayor of Leslie has been arrested and is facing several charges following an incident Sunday night.
According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Corey Michael Capone was taken into custody around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, at a residence located in the 170 block of South Bailey Avenue in Leslie.

The arrest report states Capone faces the following charges:
- One count of aggravated battery
- One count of criminal interference with government property
- Two counts of terroristic threats and acts
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing, and limited details have been released about the circumstances that led to the arrest.
Officials have not indicated if additional charges are possible. More information is expected as the investigation continues.
