Description
LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — Lee County officials are warning residents about a controlled burn underway in the county.
Lee County Fire and Emergency Services received multiple calls regarding heavy smoke near Lovers Lane Road and Forrester Parkway, according to officials.
A controlled burn is active near both areas, officials said.
Officials are urging drivers to use caution while traveling through the area due to the smoke.
“This is the time of year when local farmers are burning harvested wheat fields and other agricultural land. Large columns of smoke are often the result of these planned agricultural burns.”
Unless flames are observed threatening structures, vehicles or other property, the activity is expected and is being monitored, officials said.
