Description

LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Lee County Sheriff’s Office conducted its first Joint Operations Detail (JOD) on January 22, bringing together deputies, investigators, command staff, and state partners for a countywide enforcement effort.

The operation focused on serving outstanding warrants and high-visibility traffic enforcement along U.S. Highway 82 to improve roadway safety and deter criminal activity. A total of 28 personnel participated, including 23 members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and five special agents from the Georgia Department of Corrections.

During the detail, deputies attempted to serve 42 active warrants, successfully serving five and clearing 67 overall. Several arrests were made related to warrants and traffic violations, including charges ranging from probation violations to felony fleeing and firearm offenses.

In addition, deputies conducted 13 traffic stops, issuing citations, warnings, and making arrests for violations such as driving on a suspended license and distracted driving. Operations took place across multiple areas of the county, including Leesburg and Smithville.

Sheriff’s officials say the Joint Operations Detail highlights the effectiveness of coordinated enforcement and reinforces their commitment to proactive policing and public safety. More JOD operations are planned in the future.
