Description
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - The Newbern Middle School Pantheress SkillsUSA Team put leadership into action by completing their community service project in partnership with the city of Valdosta.
The students worked alongside the Stormwater, Utilities, and Sanitation Departments to make a real impact in the community, cleaning the river at Drexel Park, an important natural space that feeds into our local watershed and serves as a place of recreation, reflection, and environmental learning for Valdosta families.
Tommy Cowart, SkillsUSA Team advisor said, “This project wasn’t just about cleanup — it was about stewardship, civic responsibility, and showing what young leaders can accomplish when given the opportunity to serve with purpose! We are incredibly proud of these young women for representing Newbern Middle School with excellence, heart, and determination.”
Now the team is taking this project to the SkillsUSA State Competition and they are inviting the community to donate and support the their journey to state, please reach out — every contribution helps invest in leadership, service, and the future of these amazing students.
