ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Fire crews with the Albany Fire Department responded to a fire at a church in Albany on Tuesday, July 8.
According to Albany Fire Station 6 Captain E.D. Graham, the call came in at around 5 p.m. about a fire at West Town United Methodist Church, located in the 2400 block of W. Gordon Ave.
He suspects the fire started in the attic, but the cause is unknown.
The fire is currently contained. Much of what’s left is residual smoke, according to Chief Graham.
No injuries were reported. No one was inside the church at the time of the fire.
Chief Graham said they are currently trying to ventilate the structure.
