DAVISBORO, Ga. (WGXA) — An inmate at Washington State Prison escaped the facility for nearly 30 minutes early Monday morning.

According to a Facebook post from Washington County Sheriff Joel Cohran, around 6:00 a.m., deputies received a 911 call that an inmate escaped from the prison.

Cochran wrote that because of the "fast action" of the Georgia Department of Corrections Staff and Washington County deputies, the inmate was captured and taken back into custody within 30 minutes.
