SEATTLE (KOMO) — An inmate escaped custody at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Sunday morning, prompting a search by authorities.
Port of Seattle Police reported that the incident occurred around 11 a.m. when a contracted agent was attempting to transport Sedrick T. Stevenson, a 28-year-old man wanted on warrants from Kentucky.
During the check-in process at a ticket counter, Stevenson managed to flee toward the light rail station.
Despite efforts by the agents to capture him, Stevenson successfully boarded a northbound light rail train.
Sound Transit security confirmed that he was seen departing the Capitol Hill station.
Photos provided by Port of Seattle show Stevenson's hands are cuffed in front of him.
Stevenson is described as 5 feet 8 with dreadlocks and is wanted for escape in the second degree.
Authorities confirmed that there were no operational impacts at the airport due to the incident.
