ATLANTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Friday’s World Cup draw gave the world an idea of who will compete in Atlanta, but it wasn’t until Saturday that we officially learned which countries will be playing in Atlanta on what days.
Atlanta’s matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium are scheduled for June 15, 18, 21, 24, and 27 during the group stage. The venue will also host a knockout-round match on July 1, a Round of 16 match on July 7 and a semifinal on July 15 at 3 p.m.
Here are the group stage matchups:
- Monday, June 15: Match 14, Group H, Spain v. Cabo Verde at noon
- Thursday, June 18: Match 25, Group A, South Africa v. the winner of the Denmark, North Macedonia, Czech and Ireland playoff at noon
- Sunday, June 21: Match 38, Group H, Spain v. Saudi Arabia at noon
- Wednesday, June 24: Match 50, Group C, Morocco v. Haiti at 6 p.m.
- Saturday, June 27: Match 72, Group K, Uzbekistan v. the winner of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Jamaica and New Caledonia playoff at 7:30 p.m.
The World Cup kicks off June 11 with Mexico and South Africa and ends with the championship in New York/New Jersey on July 19.
The United States will open against Paraguay in Los Angeles on June 12, meet Australia in Seattle on June 19 and finish against the playoff winner back in Los Angeles on June 25.
