Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Canadian smoke traveling over 2,000 miles kept a hazy sky with highs low-upper 80s across SGA on Monday. More haze and still dry on Tuesday with warmer highs low 90s. Scattered showers and storms become likely Wednesday as moisture increases from the SE. Expect rain chances to hold through the week with highs upper 80s around 90°.
Into the weekend, a front pushes into the region and stalls. Look for more scattered showers and storms Saturday through Monday with highs low 90s and lows low-mid 70s. Not a complete washout but prepare just in case rain falls on your outdoor activities.
As of June 1, the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season is officially underway. On the second day of the season which started quiet, the NHC outlined an area off the GA/Carolina coast for possible non-tropical development over the next 7 days. Although the probability is low 10% over the next 7 days, whether or not there’s development rain is likely for the Carolinas as the system pushes north.
Make sure you are prepared as an above average season is expected. Keep in mind landfalling tropical systems come with all modes of severe weather including tornadoes. During the month of June areas of likely development are the Gulf, the Caribbean and the western Atlantic. Hurricane season runs through November 30th.
