HatchetAssaultSeattleVictimSuspectInjuryPoliceArrestSEATTLE (KOMO) — A 50-year-old man was arrested for felony assault after allegedly attacking a 34-year-old victim with a hatchet in Seattle's First Hill neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
Officers responded to a 911 call in the 900 block of Union Street at 2:39 p.m., where they found the victim suffering from a severe neck laceration. The Seattle Fire Department provided medical treatment and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.
Police located the suspect in his 10th-floor apartment and arrested him without incident. A search warrant was obtained for the residence, where officers found the weapon under a mattress in the living room. The knife was described as approximately 12 inches long with a 7-inch blade, according to the police report.
The suspect was booked into King County Jail for first-degree assault.
