LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - According to the Lowndes County Coroner, one man was pronounced dead at the scene due to a gunshot wound.

The coroner said the incident was at around 8 a.m. on May 3 on South Ards Lane in Lowndes County.

Coroner Austin Fiveash said he could not disclose further details because the man’s family is still being notified. He said the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances that led to the shot being fired.

At this time, the name and age of the deceased has not been released, nor has any information about any other people that may have been involved.
