COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A Georgia State Patrol trooper was involved in a crash Wednesday evening in Colquitt County that left both the trooper and the driver of the other vehicle injured.

Around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 a trooper and ambulance were traveling northbound on SR 133 while headed to a crash scene.

Both the trooper and ambulance activated their emergency equipment and attempted to travel through the intersection of SR 133 and SR 35. The ambulance was able to travel through the intersection, but the trooper was not.

A Lincoln SUV failed to yield to the patrol unit and struck the patrol unit in the front right passenger side of the vehicle.

This crash resulted in injuries for both the female driving the Lincoln SUV and the trooper. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The trooper was later discharged from the hospital.

This accident is still under investigation.
