LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A man in Lowndes County attempted to flee from the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) in the early morning of Sept. 13, officials confirmed on Sept. 15. GSP said that this individual had active arrest warrants with three other Georgia law enforcement agencies.

GSP said the driver was in a white Hyundai Santa Fe.

GSP tried to stop the driver near the intersection of Pineview Drive and Bemiss Road in Lowndes County at about 2:40 a.m. after observing that he failed to maintain his lane, GSP said. Instead of stopping for GSP, the driver fled, starting a pursuit.

GSP said that the driver committed several traffic violations, including reckless driving, while evading GSP. Eventually, the driver struck a car lot building, according to GSP.

The driver’s injuries are unclear, but GSP said he was taken to South Georgia Medical Center for medical attention.

The driver had active arrest warrants from the Fulton County Police Department, Lawrenceville Police Department and Sandy Springs Police Department. The details of those warrants were not released.

The specific citations listed in the incident report for this case are as follows:

• O.C.G.A. § 40-8-76.1: Seatbelt violation
• O.C.G.A. § 40-6-72 (B): Failed to make a complete stop at a stop sign
• O.C.G.A. § 40-6-181: Speed limit violation
• O.C.G.A. § 40-6-180: Basic rules violation
• O.C.G.A. § 40-6-395 (b)(5)(a): Fleeing from law enforcement
